Some people argue that we learn most from studying textbooks. However, it seems to me that the most memorable way of learning is by physically taking part in activities. If you want to learn how to play tennis, , reading books about how to serve is a waste of time. You have to get out there on a tennis court and start practising. Learning useful practical skills, taking part in a debate or interviewing people, can only be learnt by actually doing them, So, what about traditional school subjects like history or geography? Well, I agree that you need books, but I believe they are best learnt in active ways. Students can learn about geography by going on field trips to study rocks or rivers, and they can learn about history by exploring old buildings, going to museums or handling old objects. Learning in this way is natural and instinctive. It is how our ancestors learnt. , it is a way of learning that is both fun and memorable. As the old proverb says: ‘Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand.’
